The tall lad to the left of the photo, gleefully clutching his Beano annual, is Harold Ahurst ( junior ). Father Christmas' appearance would seem to suggest that they'd left it a little late and found all of the more convincing Santa impersonators fully booked. Although the exact year of the photograph is unknown, I suspect most of these kids would be in their 60's by now.

I would say that this is not a St Williams gathering,but probably a Christmas party for the kids in higher Ince labour club which was on Manchester rd at the time or the legion.
I knew Harold Ashurst at St Bills,he was slightly older than me and wherever the photo was taken it was about 1952 imo.
