Taken in 1963 by, I think, the Liverpool Echo. Sorry about the poor quality but it's falling to bits.

Play title 'HE WAS BORN GAY'..... Means an entirely different thing these days<g> Whoever came up with that word for homosexuals should be hung...

The meaning of the word "gay" has been interpreted in different ways over they years. I believe in the 1930s it was informally associated with prostitution.

Never mind America in the 30s. It was in use in Victorian times, to say a woman was gay could mean that she had turned to prostitution!

I agree with you Ron the word Gay used to mean carefree or merry until it was hijacked by the homosexual community.
