Thanks Karen and Dave for the additional names and for jogging my memory. Did Brian Bond have a sister named Betty? All the faces are so familiar but, apart from the ones seated, I couldn't put names to the others. Stiil, it is a long time ago.

My dad has a sister Margaret living in Norley Hall and had a brother Jack who died at a very early age (16). he can be seen on page 7 of Whelley School photos ( rugby teams). Sadly dad passed away in December 2011

Thanks Dave for the info. I have since remembered that the surname of the Betty I mentioned was Stevens. My surname is Bond also - odd that there were three lads in the same class with the same fairly uncommon surname, and none of us were related

Derek, when I left school I went to work at Parkside colliery where I eventually worked with a lad called Keith Jenkins who,s mother was......... Betty Stevens. Small world

Small world indeed, Dave. I was born in Whelley, moved to Beech Hill when I was seven, but stayed at St. Georges until I was eleven, after which I more or less lost touch with all my St.Georges mates, apart from seeing them around town on the odd occasion. I might be completely wrong but I have it in my head that your dad came from the School Lane area, off Greenough St.
