A very interesting photograph ,the first ever winners of this famous Shield,
were also from Wigan,St ,Pats,1926,they beat Widnes St,Bede's 6pts-Nil.
The game was played before an audience of 16,000.My Dad was a team member,there's a photo of that team on the site,Schools St .Pats boys
Hi Tom My uncle was also a member of that team his name was James(Jimmy)Bennett. There is a photograph on the site somewhere

Apparently a film was made of that 1926 final between St Pat's and St Bedes, and was shown at the Princes cinema.I wonder if it's in an archive somewhere?
Is that the Harry Pemberton who was a local comedian?

Those who are still alive are getting towards 80 now. David Dean and Bob Anglesea are about.i have spoken to them both this last week.
