How fashions change over the years, no jeans and t-shirts then.

I remember Miss Carey very well. She was a fine teacher, strict and demanding but absolutely fair and just at all times. A very dignified and lovely lady. I seem to recall she lived with her sister on Ormskirk Road, near the Half Way House.

Mr Finney (Ted) was a born teacher and a deeply impressive human being.

I remember being caned (unjustly) by the Headmaster, Michael Mannion. When he discovered the mistake he apologised to me. A great lesson in humility for a 8-year old, one which I never forgot and, indeed, profited from.

must have been a potent teaching combination, they took J3 and J4 years and got me through my scholarship in 1953

Miss Carey was also my J3 and J4 teacher in 1966/67. Very good teacher. Mr Finney took us for Art. I remember them both very well.
There was a Mr Woodcock too, I think - the only other male teacher I remember apart from Mr Mannion.
