I think next to Gapes is "killer" Taylor - "none of you will pass O level French" - that is "yorkshire" for inspiration.

Hello Susan Bridge (Angel Eyes) always wondered what life brought you. Would love to catch up, I never forgot you. I'll keep my fingers crossed you see this or someone lets you know. Mark

Well this picture brings back some incredibly unhappy memories. I was 11 then I'm 56 now. I still walk or drive past the place and shiver! Some shocking violence from some staff! Total bullying and intimidation. Would be prosecutions galore today!

I think killer the French teacher was Mr Wilson. Would be very probably prosecuted nowadays.

I was at the grammar school for two years then in our third year it went downhill when it became Mesnes High. Teachers only really looked after the top rank and left others to fend for themselves.
Got to the stage when the “hard men” decided t9 have a batter the 6th form week.known only to them they picked on the rugby team.
We asked to be allowed to play them which was granted. Just before the match we got word that word had come down from the top that as long as we didn’t put anyone in hospital we could do what we wanted.
We knocked nine shades out of them which seemed to solve the problem. After seeing their “heroes” battered the rest fell in line and life was better after that.
Ran in to one of them some years later, can’t remember who, and he said how it was the biggest mistake they made but it helped them see sense.

Now you know how we felt when we were 'Ansclussed' by the Grammar School.
Mr Gapes was living in Southport the last I heard, that was about 2 years ago..
