How very rude of True Wiganer (I note he hasn't posted giving his actual name). I think he would find that this photo will stir up some fond memories for the wiganers who attended school camp here. Thanks for sharing Keith.

The same hall was used to accommodate pupils from Cowley Boys School, St Helens in the 1960's.

Stayed in there in the40s we had to go into the cellar,fill mattress covers with straw to sleep on,then slept on the floor in the corridors.You roughed it at school camp in those days

Yes Eric I used to go every year from 1964 to 1967 only time I did not go was1968.Carried on at school for while to go abroad to Belgium,I used to love it,and when I go to grassmere now all the good times come back to me,now of course I take my grand kids turning in to an old codger.

I remember it from March 1965 and filling the straw mattresses, peeling spuds and being cold.
