What a lovely photo! It reminds me so much of my schooldays at Ince Central. We too had those book-cases which opened out on a hinge, with elastic cord stretched across to hold the books in place.

Ken Robinson back row 2nd left was my cousin. Sadly he died in 1998 aged 49.

I remeber Ken and his dad, who used to drive for Walls coaches. Ken junior was in St Catharine's Boys Brigade at the same time as I was.

Just stumbled across this photo - my God, 60 years ago! Girl on right of 3rd row is Kathryn Lowe and lad next to Alan Rothwell is Brian Fawcett (maybe Forshaw). I seem to recall a few more names from that class from long ago: David Heywood. Malc Brown, Susan Reinke, Linda Broxson & Sandra French, whose mum ran the White Lion pub at the top of Whelley.
