The last discovery is in a Silver Jubilee mount so it's a pretty safe bet it's 1977.
Far right standing Pam Heaton
3rd. from left seated possibly Frank Lowe, then Rector Eaton, then Mrs.Crompton.

Comment by: David on 25th November 2010 at 17:31

Lyndon after all this time Pam Heaton and your mum have changed little from when we all lived in Cedar Grove and Downallgreen

Sorry Fred I don't know any Peter Crompton. My dad Cyril Crompton worked at Stones Colliery in the 1950's. He was a railway wagon builder and repairer.

Mrs crompton was my first teacher and what a grand lady she was, it was always easy learning with mrs crompton she had loads of patience with her class even the ones with learning difficulties, treated everyone the same never heard a bad word about her in playing ground everyone loved her.

Why was there always a "geeky"teacher and a PE Teacher who always tried to look "athletic", but somehow never quite pulled it off. Nothing changes.

If I'm not mistaken that could be my College rugby playing colleague from 1964-67, Sean O'Leary, haven't seen him since those days. He used to live in the shop next to the Ben Johnson. Probably retired by now.

When we were at junior school and WGS he was Mick Leary He married a councilor's, i think, daughter and lived on Swinley Road. He was often to be seen running on the roads around Wigan. I do believe that he has emigrated to N Z in the last few years.

Thank you Dave and John for that interesting info'. Just wished I'd made contact earlier. Three years ago I visited NZ with my wife, I could have looked him up.

Yes, I'd quite forgotten, on reflection Sean was his nickname I believe, at least I never remember "Mick" being used.

With the exception of Mrs Smith & the rector, I am now older than all of the teachers when this photo was taken 40+ years ago. Seems like yesterday being in class 1, 1975/6.
