I have exactly the same photo!!!! It's St Catherines walking day. Where did you get it? are you on it?
Forgot to say I'm on the back row, second from right, looking towards the camera.
The lady on the right looks suspiciously like Miss Swift who taught at St Georges.
I put the same picture on under St Catherines walking daya couple of years ago. It is the SAME photograph. I can tell, as there is a crease in the top right corner on both photos.???????
Miss Swift is on the first page the 1954 pic. Sure looks kike Miss Swift.
It was taken on Darlington street, at the bottom of Spring street. I lived in Spring street. I went to Warrington Lane school, and St. Catherines sunday school. Taylor's chip shop on corner.
"Lost Angel" ( on the County poster in the background) is a 1943 film starring Margaret O'Brien - was trying to work out what the Susan Hayward film was to try and date the photo . . .
Hi Ian yep done all that trying to determine the date. I look like I would be about 5? So that dates it at c.1950
Ah Ron you would probably be at St catherines church at the same time as my good friend Jim Holding and at Warrington Lane school at the same time as Dave Parker who now lives in Australia.
Hi Dave the only names I can remember from my time at Warrington Lane school are Raymond Stotherts, Who lived in the last house, next to the slaughter house, in Silver Street, and David? Lancaster who lived somewhere near Harrogate street. I have been looking for years for a school photo with me on. I left when I was 7 in 1953.
I'll see if I can contact Dave in Oz. Theres always a chance he'll have a pic from Warrington lane.
From what you write Ron it would seem you were at the school at the same time as my cousin, Stewart Brown, unfortunately, as far as I know, he hasn't got any school photos from those days.
Fred G (you wern't in Coronation St by any chance were you?) - what was the point of that comment?
PS my auntie run an off course bookies next door to Warrington Lane school but she hasnt any photos either.
That little blond boy on the front row is a double for the young Clifford Higham.
Does look Cliff doesn't it. He was always a cute little devil.
I always lafancied Cliff.
Sheila I think all the girls fancied Cliff.
