Great photo. Brings back memories of St Catharines which inside looked very similar this, before it was demolished.
Graham, looking at the age of the children and the size of the window makes me think this is 'Little Rose Bridge' not the senior school
This is little rose bridge ( the infants ) in Rose Streeet
Rose Bridge Secondary School didn't open until December 1928. I agree with the other comment that it must be the junior school.
Thanks for your comments everyone. I assume that the Little Rose Bridge school building has been demolished now. Am I correct?
Yes Graham it was demolished in the early 1980's along with the Church attached to it. Though a smaller Church was built in its place and is still going today. I wonder if my Grandad is on this pic, he was born in 1913. He ended up being Headmaster there, Harry Lancaster. He won a scholarship, no easy task back then, and he said all school turned out and carried him round playground cheering. They would just laugh now. People were glad for you if you got on back then.
I have recently discovered that my father, Thomas Parkinson, who is the subject of my original posting of this photo, went to school with 'Jimmy' Isherwood the famous Wigan painter. I wonder if he's on this photo?
