What a team this was...These lads went on to the Champion Schools Final in 1966...Has anybody got any photos of the later team...? I'm sure they won that final...
Where's Tish? Was he not in this side at that time?
Big Don B. at the back.

good photo .peter.i think this shield is the intermediate championship .if i can remember i think we drew with wigan gs and shared the tophy for six months apiece.jarvo, the match on wigan rovers ground was against stockton heath, warrington.if i rember rightly it was a lancs semi final witch we won 4-1,we lost the final to a team from west houghton.lot of memories on here peter.steve melling, best uncaped full back in the league.please excuse the typing, its not easy with 4 pints of the bitter they serve in the last orders.

Peter: didn't notice Tish was on...
Gav: thanks for that...I went to see you play at Rover's ground...was with Miss Todd and a big gang of us...
I remember that you were captain of Gold House; I was captain in 1968-69...Great days those, when nobody had owt, but we were happy...I think...

The 1966 Champion School Final was played in pouring rain on a small school pitch in Westhoughton. Highfield were a strong, skillful team and played good football but eventually lost 3-1 to a well organised Westhoughton side, nearly all of who went on to play for the Daisy Hill youth team that won the Under 18s Lancashire FA Youth Cup in 1968 and again in 1969.
