The 1966 Champion School Final was played in pouring rain on a small school pitch in Westhoughton. Highfield were a strong, skillful team and played good football but eventually lost 3-1 to a well organised Westhoughton side, nearly all of who went on to play for the Daisy Hill youth team that won the Under 18s Lancashire FA Youth Cup in 1968 and again in 1969.
