Cracking photo Dave , Tommy Pownall hasnt changed a bit !!! and i dont know if you agree but i think your Thomas has a look of your dad on this Photo !!

i went to school with kenny simpkin from abram alan talbot from abram who was team captain for the danes. i also remember kieth garswood going to haydock races and winning 40£. can anyone recall going to the lake district wihth mr aiken ect about 1954. ishould be on this photo but im blowed if ican make it out.can anybody help me .alan cannon

on the second back row left to right who is standing at number4 and at number7. i do believe one of them is me,back row number7 is that you alan talbot. regards to wigan chippenham wiltshire

I was captain of the Danes in 1A. Alan Talbot was a Norman. The photograph is 1B.

Yes it is the same Gordon Allen. I am keeping ok hope you are. Kenny Simpkin and myself were confirmed together at Abram. We played on the same football team at Ashton. I finished work 3 years ago after working continuously from leaving school. What are you doing these days? I live in Hindley Green and enjoy Wigan Rugby. Best wishes Gordon Allen

nice to hear from you,i was in the choir with you and often led the choir out with you,i remember your dad laying on a supper for the choir. i played football with eddie birchhall and kenny simkin at abram school, isure i was in 1a with form teacher mr aiken latham and a welsh teacher mr williams? i join the railway springs branch i think kenny did to?then i transferd to london and have been all over since , im presently living in chippenham wiltshire. i do bowling and into roman coins and its history/ give my regard s toall and nice to hear from you/ ps i think i am on a walking day choir photo posted on wigan world .take care best whishes alan james cannon

Alan, I think this is a mixture of 1a and 1b. I was in 1a and I am not on this photograph. Kenny Simpkin was in my class along with Jimmy Scriven (deceased) Walt Corless, Alf Sherman,Roy Sherman these were also in 1a but not on that photograph. Gordon

gordod its all starting to come back, i think we we came out of the room after being allocated to our teams i was green danes if you was captain alan talbot was vice captain i remember him carrying the book with the merit marks plus or minus in my case, always talking in class,i remember ian?collins from bryn gates/nice to hear from you, if anything else comes to mind let me know. alan ps what work did you you do? alan

Alan,I worked at Gullick Dobson for 25 years in the sales department, travelling all over the country to meetings with the NCB. I then worked for MCS for 15 years in their sales dept. The first 10 years from leaving school I worked for B.I.C.C in invoicing. I enjoyed my working life. Now me and my wife enjoy our well earned leisure time. She worked in school for 32years. So we like our trips to America and ruiver cruising. Best wishes Gordon

gordon. sounds that you have had a good life and enjoyed your work/ i ran a newsagents in bedford and swindon in the 70 ties. later work for bt and finished up doing demonstrations in the big supermarkets i do a lot of cruising with p.o of on a 35 nighter in feb to carabean and new orleans florida ect/ often thouight about river cruise who do recomend? did you go to school camp 1954? was the welsh teacher named mr simms? 60 years ago were has it all gone? gorden have a nice holiday best whishes to you and your family. take care. alan

My dad is Norman Sherman he is on the front row ,and the only one wearing glasses he will be 80 on the 22nd July and still fighting fit racing his pigeons and enjoying life .
