Fred lad .. I’ve heard of Blue Peter and Pritstick … but this is ridiculous .. its more like Bluetack and Slapstick.
Could you not at least have got the heads in proportion. And where did you get those heads from … a First World War photograph …Sepia Men!

Comment by: Archie on 4th November 2009 at 22:56

Are you trying to make a statement here Freddy. Something deep and esoteric. If so, you've got me fooled.

Comment by: Trencher on 5th November 2009 at 10:13

Archie - I think what Trapper is trying to say is that these lads had a good foundation in the scouts and are now pillars of society and this is what they look like today.

Comment by: Maria Lasierra on 9th November 2009 at 19:35

The lad with the pink face, white ears and father Christmas must be a leprechaun. Thought I would never see one. Is that good or bad luck?

Comment by: Bloo on 10th November 2009 at 10:33

Comment by: Trencher on 10th November 2009 at 17:13

Bloo I think you mean the lad on the left.

Comment by: E. Turner on 13th November 2009 at 10:34

I'm sure the bloke on the right used to live in Darlington St East.

Comment by: John Bull on 15th November 2009 at 23:49

Wigan,s own, champion jevelin throwers soon to be bound for Rourk's Drift, go get them Zulu,s boys for king and country and The Grammar School 'faild abortions' but nice kids.

John I think you will find that the poles that are held by these chaps are flag poles rather than spears. They were probably used to mark points where they had completed stages of their orienteering challenge.

Eric,,are you he same chap I have recentley texted with,,but your quite correct I did used to live in Darlington St East...last house as a matter of fact,,next to Bibbys office at the corner of Birkett Bank,,as I have said previously ,the first house going up Birkett Bank was where boyhood friends lived Brian and Eric turner

Comment by: Eric on 23rd November 2009 at 22:44

Gotcha Jas - nice original pic of you and your mate up at Rivington - do I know him? St Cats lad? I think someone taking the pistachio on this one. Cheers my owd mate.

Comment by: orrellite on 24th November 2009 at 07:44

Jas, you must therefore have been neighbours of the Bibby family who lived a couple of doors along Darlington st, I was at WGS with Harold who you will see on the 1958 school photo I have listed his name there.

Comment by: jas holding on 29th November 2009 at 22:02

Hey up Eric,,,,,the other transplanted head is Cliff Higham who was an old St Georges boy but was in same year as me through WGS,,,still keep in regular e-mail wth him and several others ,,who appear in 1958 cross country pic on page 1 of the site,,,ps,,the other scout pic will stand a bit of scrutiny,,,suspect the hand of "The Oracle" in these pics,,,lol

Comment by: jas holding on 29th November 2009 at 22:10

yes course I knew the Bibby,s,,,Harold,Alan(Walt)and Norman who was the eldest brother,,also their cousins Donald and Marie who lived few doors down from them,,,Harolds pic also appear on some old St Catherines pics which were posted by Keith Bowen who you must know as well as he was same age and also went to WGS

Comment by: The Oracles Disciple on 1st December 2009 at 16:20

The Oracle who no longer lends his talent or wisdom to this site wishes to point out that he had nothing to do with the above picture. Indeed Fred mason has taken responsibility. The Oracle is disappointed in James's lack of faith especially as James was annointed to take over the mantle as the author of "Ripping Yarns". The Oracles skills have been used only only in a narrative capacity. If the Oracle had created the above picture, it would have been of much better quality.

I think James Holding is a councillor now and Cliff Higham an alderman.

Comment by: Maria Lasierra on 8th December 2009 at 10:17

Whats an alderman Dave? and can you get arrested for it.

Comment by: S. Critchley on 8th December 2009 at 10:39

Maria an alderman is a member of a municipal legislative body in a city council. They usually represent a ward. And yes it is perfectly legal.
May I comment Maria that you have a lovely name. Maria Lassierra. It must be Spanish.

... these postings and photos are being done by the same person, using many aliases. He is placing Jim in lots of places where he has never been...

Comment by: V. Kearns on 1st August 2010 at 21:43

Yeah Trish and his name is Fred!

Comment by: Anne McKnight on 3rd August 2010 at 14:13

I'm with you Tricia. I think that people who stick someones head on someone else's body should be hung as high as a pigeon. And they should be left to rot so that all passers by may see and be warned!

Comment by: Shamus O'Holding on 5th August 2010 at 12:37

And ahmen to that Annie.
