Walking Day St Mary's Ince. Taken at the junction of Malvern Crescent and Marlborough Avenue. Possibly 1926.

This would be at the top end of Marlborough Ave near Mellings farm. I think the date should be 30's as I don't think the estate was built in 26.

I agree this must be in the 1930s at least. I was born at number 75 Malvern Crescent in 1942 - that's the semi only half visible on the far right. We lived with my grandparents Tom and Jane Ann (Jinny) Reynolds until 1950 and I know that they moved into the house when it was newly built in 1927. The houses shown here don't look that newly built as it looks like some weed growth in the road gutters but the road surface condition is better than I remember from the late 1940s so the 1930s seems like the right timeframe.

We used to see this sight every year with the various Walking Days - St Mary's, Taylors Lane Wesleyan and Hope Street Independent, which we used to take part in. I have an old photo of me as a very small boy dressed in a white satin suit and holding a ribbon from the large banner. I'll try to find it and add it to this post later.
