The church warden was my grandad John Henry Gaskell, he was a "Running Shed Foreman" at Springs branch railway depot, he was the only grandad I ever really knew.My grandad Ramsdale passed away in 1951 when I was only a baby. Curiously he too was a "Running Shed Foreman" at Springs Branch. I gather these two gentlemen hired railway men at the branch and I guess many retired railway men will remember them. Incidently there sons Albert Ramsdale and Percy Gaskell worked at Springs Branch. Albert was a driver and famously drove the Lion at the railway centenary and Percy was an engineer.
