It takes me back to Walk Sunday in Holland Moor. I have similar photos that were taken around the early 1950's. It was a real event with everyone taking part in some way or other, dresses made, flowers done, a proper team effort.

I remember the Tin Chapel. I think it was still there in the late 1980s/early 1990s as I once made some masks for the scouts when they held a concert there and my daughter and I were given free tickets. It was a very homely building. I grew up in Ince but moved to Warrington Road Abram when I married in 1974 and Walking Days went on for quite a few years after that before coming to a stop. It is a very busy road and ordinary traffic coming through Abram just had to wait or find an alternative route for an hour or so on Walking Day, but so many ambulances and police cars whizz past our house on a daily basis now, with the sirens wailing and blue lights flashing, that it makes me wonder how the church procession managed to walk from one end of the village to the other without an emergency vehicle needing access! However, I don't recall one single incident, and neither do I recall my childhood walking days in Ince being interrupted, (and Manchester Road was always busy) It's a puzzle!
