Somewhere around the Dicconson St area towards Wigan Lane to pass the Convent and St Mary's and St John's Churches, which was the general way back to St Patrick's via Greenough St and Scholes. The Children of Mary group.

I think Jack's right - numbers 9 and 11 Dicconson Terrace, on the corner of Acton St.

I knew some of the Wigan Worlders would know exactly where this is. My memories of the area from being small was what a lovely place it was with the fantastic buildings and the trees, it always seemed sunny in those far off days.

I like your Coo ca choo Veronica. And here's another dinky little thing: I discovered just a few days ago that there's no industry standard for the tones of graphite pencils - one makers HB is another makers 3B ... that sort of thing. It's nothing to do with your Coo ca choo, of course, it's just that I thought you might not be aware of the fact. Hope your ok.

I didn't know that Philip, not done any graphite lately , but done a pastel pencil /painting of a harbour in Cornwall. Look up Colin Bradley on Ytube, he is the Maestro of the pastel pencil.

Thanks Veronica. I've had a look at him and, as you say, he's top-notch - a good talker as well. I had the pencil bit from 'Anna Bregman review of pencils'. She has Derwent in her top ten.

Stabilo are the best Philip.. Derwent are not my favourites for pastels.

The name looks and sounds good too, Veronica.

Bought a tin of Derwent Graphic Philip- 9b - H. I do like the pencils. I have yet to visit the Derwent Pencil Museum.. I was hoping to go this year!

Derwent's 'Graphic' is the one listed in the authors top ten, Veronica. You know your stuff.

Imagine the mothers being glad when this day was over, they'd get to give their nets a dip in Rinso and have them hung up again to stop the neighbours peeping in.
