What a lovely photo and it's always good to get a glimpse of Scholes, I know exactly where that is!
Bet they couldn't wait to get goin'.
Hello Graham, lovely photograph I bet your Mum and Dad were proud..Regards to Susan. Keep safe,Tommy.
I love the dark, double breasted suit the smaller boy is wearing, very smart...wonder what the lads in front of the pub were discussing !
Hello Tommy. Good to hear from you! Helen, I think the lads are probably discussing what time the pub will open.
I wonder if that little lad's suit was made from material left over from his dad's. I remember most men had their suits made specially , I don't think there were many ready mades in days gone by.
Just before the bridge, over the River Douglas, then towards the Horseshoe Pub..
What a lovely photo of my brother. Not seen that before ..I don’t think so anyway.
And hello to Tommy Walsh xx😊🤗
I loved Walking Day at St George’s.
From all the stories that accumulated that I personally heard, it would be an obvious conclusion that the parishioners’ of St George’s, and the parishioners of the local R.C. Community blended together admirable.
Hi! Can’t believe came across this photo after my dad & I talking about The Shovel & Broom the one in Scholes.. My Uncle Billy Lees ran it in the 1950s with my Aunt Winnie.. My Grandad & Dad went there a lot.. There was one at Ince but this one in Scholes had a really long bar..
