The figure in the centre, back to the camera, looks like Rector Hutton. Again the cups are visible at the feet of the lads in the foreground.
There is a Field Day in Billinge and as a youth would look forward to it. The pubs and clubs remained open all day then. All 13 of 'em!!!
Imagine a scene like this today? not a chance. There is no community spirit anymore. Half the fields that use to hold these big walking days on have disappeared and have been built on with houses or characterless shopping centres and business parks. People don't care about each other anymore, which is sad, they'd rather be watching some stupid meaningless football game down at the local, playing on xbox, glued to their facebook and smartphones all day yet think they don't have time for anything else, buying a new car that they can't afford and getting into debt, watching drivel on TV, eating rubbish from McDonalds, etc, all consumerism and materialism and keeping the rich people at the top in power. We live in the "me me me" society today.
