This is the earliest dated pic in the batch of photographs I've been loaned.
It is a used postcard - sent to the Rector's sister in Southport on August 19th, 1905. The Rector (Rev. Charles William Newton Hutton, rector from 1886 to 1936) wrote: "Singing the hymn. Field Day. The organist in command. CWN Hutton, Aug 5, 1905.
Another hand has written in biro: 'Boys SS (Sunday School). M (Mothers') Union in background'.
Note the mugs at the boys' feet - presumably the mass catering preparations dated from Rector Hutton's time - he may, indeed, have inaugurated the Standish Walking Day, as most began in the late 19th century.

Walking day on the Saturday followed by races on the field in the 1950's .Never won.
is there any chance i could have a copy of these photos i am writing a book about my mother i have a few photos which i will send you copies of
