Captioned on the back, 'Preparation 1938'. Cups and plates put out in lines on the Rectory lawns, awaiting the arrival of those who've been on the Walk.
This is one of a number of Walking Day photographs I've been loaned, going back to 1905. In all of those showing church organisations at the 'Field Day' in the Rectory gardens, the cups/ mugs are to be seen - this pic shows how they got there.

Wonder how much tea was needed to fill all of those cups and how large and how many tea pots were used.

If anyone told me this was how catering was organised in the 1930's i would think 'em pullin' me leg, Rev David. Fairly artistic really, other than the odd beetle in your cuppa.
