Norman Holland and Mrs. Kenyon in the black gowns. Taken at the junction of Barton Street and Liverpool Road. I'm uncertain about the date.

I would say early to mid sixties, judging by the ladies' clothes and the prams.

The car in the background is a Mk.1 Ford Cortina so the date can't be prior to 1963/64

I think the chap stood on the pavement in the dark trousers is Graham Atherton who still lives in that same house on the corner.

Mr Hurst headteacher in the background and I think Derek Greenwood on the left

You are right Gladys it is Derek Greenwood. The last I heard of him he was living near Eastbourne

Comment by: Sylvia on 13th September 2012 at 21:48

Stan Greenwood on the right.

The lady in centre I'm sure her name was Mrs Kenyon, she lived bottom end of Walthew Lane towards David Street. And the man besides her maybe Mr Pollitt the coal man who lived in Moss Lane in big white house on corner of Ingram Street.

Comment by: Flintstone on 15th September 2012 at 01:09

Hadn't noticed caption above photo. It is Norman Holland and not Mr Pollitt.
