This pic was given to me by Dave Owens. His mother Lily is on the left. You can see the Mechanics Arms in the background and the Queen's Head pub in the centre To the right of the pub is Bridgewater Street Newtown. Does anyone recognise the children?

Fred,that is the Queen's Hotel, wasn't the Queens Head on the corner of Ormskirk Rd.

Ken that was the Queens hotel. it is now the Queens Arms, the one on the corner of Ormskirk road was The Plough and Harrow.

Forgot to say, the Queens Head was behind the photographer, on the roundabout.

jimmy,the Plough and Harrow was opposite Scot Lane, the Queens Head was at the junction of Ormskirk Rd. and Warrington Rd.

Fred, the Queens Head was demolished in 1972, the pub in your picture is the Queens Hotel, which is now the Queens Arms.

I think the girl with glasses could be Ann Whalley and the girl far right might be Anne Keenan.
