hi dk. do you know who the little girls are. the one on the right looks like me. and the one on the left looks like Lynda Gaskell. but cant be sure it was a long time ago nearly 54 years ago. Irene was right everyone made it a special day. all the family would come and mam would put on a boildham tea. and they would take their chairs down to Ince Bar so that grandma could sit down.
I'm sorry Halsall I don't know, but I hope it is you. You'll be able to watch yourself walking down the lane!
The only thing I can be sure about is the date is 1958.
please tell me how dk.
I agree the girl on the left looks like Lynda Gaskell.
dk, as you said to Brenda that she will be able to see herself walking down the lane, does this mean there may be a chance you can put these films onto a disc? That would be absolutely wonderful! If it IS possible, (and please don't think I'm trying to be clever, ......I am useless with modern technology and commenting on the Wigan World Album is about my limit!), but I have a copy of a St. Williams Walking Day which was put onto dvd from a video of original cine-film by Gerry Mawdsley; as with most old cine-film, the quality wasn't brilliant and Gerry deliberately did it in slow motion which makes it much easier to make out people and landmarks than if it was in its original speed. Just a thought, dk, and please put me down for a copy!
Brenda, Irene: please see my comments on Iron Bridge pic. One way or another you will get to see these, I promise.
The girl in the middle is Carol Cunliffe, then I think Anne Halsall and the lady on the right is my Auntie, Milly Appleton from Petticoat Lane, I seem to know the girl on the left but can't put a name to her
Hi Moureen, the first little girl is Lynda Gaskell, then Carol Cunnliffe then me Brenda Halsall, our Anne is eight years younger than me. hope your ok.
