I belonged to Whelley Methodist Chapel and we never had a banner we had "Sermons " every year on the 3rd Sunday in May and we walked around the streets of New Springs and Top Lock in our new coats and bonnets and stopped now and again to sing hymns and invite people to the sermons in the afternoon and evening when all the girls wore white dresses and the boys had white shirts
