Spring bank again The old chemist's shop at the end of Ridyard Street is quite plain and also the grocer's shop of Maurice Mason.

What a picture to bring back memories - Maurice Mason was my father and we lived in this shop from 1946 to 1957. I've spent many happy hours playing behind the shop and would love to hear from anyone who knew my father or any of the family. My Brother, Bryan, is in Australia, my brother Tony is in Highfield, and my twin sisters still live in this area.

A more exact dating would be useful. The Vicar from 1929 was the Revd. James Norris Davey. The Vicar from 1923 to 1929 was his elder brother, Thomas Arthur Edwards Davey. He was a WW1 Army Chaplain. I think the priest on the right is one of the Davey brothers - and he has an Army Chaplaincy badge on his black scarf. So - is this a pre-1929 pic of the elder brother - or was the younger brother also an Hon. Chaplain to HM Forces?

I have looked more closely at the pic and and it seems to me that it must have been taken in the 1920s because I'm sure that the vicar is Thomas Davey.
