Where was the co-op situated then?
the co-op used to be were late shop is now
I remember it now...it just looks so different with the other buildings which have since gone. Thankyou.
This, I believe, is Warrington Rd, between the junction with Lily Lane and the start of Walthew Lane.
Yes... in the background you can see the junctions of News Street (to the left), and Millers Lane (straight on), an Warrington Road (going off to the right).
Anyone remember the chippy on the corner of Millers Lane?
Th'owd Kworp! A lovely photograph!
The chippy was owned by a Mrs. Rickets. (Not sure if spelling is correct.)
Thank you Bernard! Rickett's Chippy!!! Of course it was!
The building in the background used to be the head office for Platt Bridge Co-op I used to call there when I was a Sales Rep the manager once showed me around the offices upstairs (long since dissused) they were beautiful oak paneled rooms it was a good looking building and should never have been knocked down.
