I saw this picture awhile ago on a Billinge site but paid little attention to it.Yesterday, someone posted the picture on Facebook asking for help in identifying where in Billinge it was. After some detective work I came to the conclusion that this pub was located on Billinge Rd near Thwaites Delph.

Are you talking about Billinge Road in Pemberton?
Yes. There is no record of a pub by that name in Billinge that I can find, certainly not one owned by Oldfields. There was an inn by that name owned by Oldfields, late 1890,s near the Billinge Rd./Victoria St junction.

It was on Billinge Road. My grandma Edith Hutchinson was born there one 16 children some of whom died young. Others went on to be socialists and conscientious objectors in WW1. Great great family
I've recently discovered that my Grandfather Harry Don Duncan was the publican at the White Lion Billinge Road Pemberton he died there July 3rd 1933 age 45
