boring sorry.
Garry, for once in your life, why don’t you keep your mouth shut?
This site is littered with your crass and puerile comments. They aren’t clever, they aren’t witty, and only serve to highlight your lack of good manners.
These photos, although relatively recent, will be of genuine interest to local historians both now, and in years to come.
Well said Ian.theres too much rudeness and bad manners on here. Ifpeople cant make a helpful comment they should keep quiet.
I must agree with Garry on this one.
interesting and useful pic Duncan
Yes very well said Iain
Garry, if you lack the mentality to apprecaite the value of the photos publish on this site I can only suggest you stop looking at it; history is a very broad subject, try to appreciate that,
GAR REEEEE
Be nice. Peace and Goodwill to all Men etc.
Season's Greetings to all.
PS Garry.. think you need to take more water with it ! LOL
That's just my opinion, peace on earth good will to all men and women. Merry Christmas Trica x
Pictures like this one are not only hugely important, but also greatly interesting. Thanks Duncan for posting.
I don,t agree with Garry nine times out of ten ,but in an open forum, he is entitled to express his view. Shut up is not what I want Garry or anyone to do, no matter how much I dislike their comments. Thanks Duncan for your great picture.
Thank you Julie and Tricia x
A.W, Sadly, I am afraid, your comment reflects more on you than the said person. My observation is that Garry found the picture boring nothing more. I personally do not see fault with that observation , simply his opinion.
I find this interesting as some of my family came from Far Moor, they lived there at the time of the 1881 census. So can someone tell me where it is in Orrell ?
De nada , Garry... you're welcome.
Wishing you and all Photo-a-Day Posters and Photographers a Prosperous and Peaceful New Year
I must echo the sentiments of many. Too much abuse and ill-feeling directed at sensible posts. As one of my great uncles would say "SHUDD UPPA YOU FACE!"
Helen: the photo shows looking up Church Street towards Orrell Station from The Grapes crossroads. The floodlights you can see behind the digger are what was Orrell RUFC ground. Houses were built, first on the vacant plot you can see and now on the site of the old school. Far Moor is much
more built on and around these days.
Thank you Polly, all the best. x
Giovanni, we don't say that here in Wigan, we have respect.
We should be thankful of Garry, he makes this site more enjoyable.
Ann, if it's clowns you want, try a circus.
Another idiotic comment. Rod your such a fool.
I for one love Garry's straight to the point views.
Garry, I bit my tongue.I was about to say that for an Italian gentleman his Uncle was not very polite.
Tracy, I am only sorry you do not like my straight to the point views.
I would sooner read Garry'y comments than most men on here.
Thanks to all my lady fans. Happy new year x
Women are much brighter than men.
But its so hard to find a circus these days Rod.And you must admit he does get the ball rolling. Happy New Year Gaz,and all your readers.
To all the men who have a dig at me on here, jealousy will get you no where. all the best.
Garry, how do you know they are lady fans? Remember Paul O'Grady used to be Lily Savage.
LOL You tell them , Garry. There are some miserable old souls (for want of a better word !) on here at the best of times. You are so right about ladies.... I think I like you, Garry !
Beware , too ,of the Trolls.
Wishing you a Prosperous and Peaceful New Year. Same wish for everyone on Wigan World.
Fame at last eh Garry lol! You womaniser you!,
All I want to say is thankyou Duncan , for your picture. Without such pictures we would be very shallow in my eyes
Thanks Fred and all who liked this picture.
cheers Julie x
Billy, because I don't have a silly mind! these ladies are all genuine. All the best.
Billy.... Bingo!
Billy....bingo
Can anyone help with my research on the Armstrong family who I believe had a shop (shoe repairers) at 60 church street. I think James Armstrong ran it, probably the son of another James Armstrong who had a boot repairers on Millgate
Well we’re in 2020 the landscape has changed beyond recognition and this and many of the photographs relating to Orrell have proved extremely useful in preparing heritage displays. Thank you.
The only photo I can find of my old school from 1971 to 1975
