The lines will be the mineral railway from the Aspull Pumping Pit.
Cheers Geoff. I live in one of the houses built on the Moor just to the left of the photo. The road is very busy now.
There is a footpath there now which follows the line of the old railway, it crossed Ratcliffe Road and ran through a cutting pass the Wall Hey Chimney on Haigh road and on to Toddington and Meadow Pit.
i remember coming up crawford avenue and crossing a dirt rook i think ther was an old mine shaft on there my grandmother lived on stanley rd there was some ston cottages further up than the moorgate she also had a shop there

I used to live Stanley Rd until I was aged 11yrs, we then moved to Holly Road, newly built houses. We used to play in George Marsdens fields and used go potato picking. What an evocative photo, lovely to see. thank you
