A photo from the 1920's as my grandfather Fred Lewis ploughed his farm in Queensland which he leased from the Australian Government after migrating from Wigan-Standish with his Wigan-born wife Daisy Wood following their marriage in 1907. It was miles from anywhere and must have been miserable. Goodness knows why they ever came there. Noone to ask now.

A great pic Sheryl. I expect your Grandfather thought as many did when emigrating...a new start, a new life. Probably a hard life but he must have thought he was the King of all he surveyed & he was to some extent...his own master. I admire these brave people of yester year, it took guts to leave home, family & friends. Well done Fred !
