Looks like the old Wigan Borough police station on the right and further up entrance to Rodney Street. Is the canopy on the left the Hippodrome?

Anyone have any better photos of the building closest to centre? I believe it's called The Quadrant Building. So beautiful...gone by 1970 according to photos I have seen on this site. I saw it was there still in a photo in 1960. Anyone have any photos or into? Would be much appreciated, thank you.

What a coincidence ,here we are in 2025 and I'm going through some of my old photo albums of yesterday. I always had one for postcards sent by me to home or received ones from various relatives, friends or my parents when they went away. This King Street post card shown must have been from the early 1950's as on the back the name 'Will Smith Series, Wigan'
One of my school pals must have, in the early '50's , sent it to me as it is addressed to Master Barrie ----- and addressed correctly. No stamp or PO frank on it. The protocol in those days was to address a minor as Master. You don't hear of that these days. I reckon the scene is from the 1930's seeing the tram lines are still there. Looking through the album collection I've acquired, the majority are from holidays taken in the UK/Ireland during the 1950's-1980's. with comments like, relaxing in the hot weather and having a good time.
