For once in a while, Latics are welcomed back after a success. Even the sun shone!

Yes Art,I'm pleased that the colour connection gives you some consolation during these difficult times! In the words of a song for both camps.."Things can only get better.."

GM buses were orange and brown not cherry and white. 1 June 1985 Latics won the Freight Rover Thrpohy. I presume this is the day after and their triumphant return tp a civic reception.

Greater Manchester Transport (the bus here belonging to which) had a white, orange and brown livery.
There has never been any cherry and white buses in Wigan, neither blue and white.
This pic may have been taken as rebranding of Greater Manchester Transport buses to GM Buses was taking place.

"never been any cherry and white buses in Wigan" Hmm. Are you sure? What colour would you say they were when Wigan had it's own bus fleet?

Wigan Corporation? That was definatly NOT cherry and white. Not the cherry and white of Wigan Rugby anyway....

A nice, happy picture and the children have to come out and start arguing about the colour of the bus. Never mind, I'm sure most proper Wiganers are happy to see that picture, happy memories.

I think this is 7077 a Leyland Atlantean, the reason they open topped buses it when they were peeled open when driven under a low bridge...

The bus ended its days at Bolton Garage in First livery, it was used for Man United. Some painters found city (Dunlop City) on the tyres and outlined them until the managers found out ;-)
