The Isle of Portland is joined to the mainland by Chesil beach, it can be accessed from Weymouth Dorest. The church is situated at 'Church Ope' cove on the eastern side of the island. There is also a ruined castle close by. 'Rufus' or 'Bow and arrow' castle as it is called by some.
