The lady and the gentleman on the right look like Laura and Dr. Harvey out of Brief Encounter!
My wife used to work at Coops making waist coats for Dunne&Co. She made me a burgandy waist coat which I wore for a few years.
These clothes were very stylish, I remember my dad having an over coat, like the man on the right. Quilted as well in 1950s they must have been expensive.
I remember my dad with his heavy overcoat and his trilby.
He only wore the trilby at weekend and wore a flat cap for work and going to the bookies. My mother had two fancy vases on the 'sideboard' and his trilby was on top of one vase as if in pride of place. You don't see those heavy overcoats anymore, there is no need for them really in this day and age. I used to think men looked very smart in their suits and jackets. A bit of The Humphrey Bogart about them.
I have seen Prince Charles in a long Camel overcoat which does look quite old
fashioned , although he always has been I find. A throwback to the fifties.
I had a camel coloured coat. LOVED IT. With my cavalry twill trousers and brown brogue shoes Talk about smart <g> Getting a car and driving put an end to that fashion. Then it was short "Car Coats"
My mum worked as a fashion designer in the 1930s. I still have some of her sketches
