As a former resident of Wigan, 1940-57 I found the site very informative, which brought back many memouries, I still could not find an old map of Wigan before 1940. with the streets showing. perhaps I was looking in the wrong place.

Hi Lorraine not been on the computer for awhile. Thanks for your email,we are fine.
Hope you are the same. The weather is now coming good again, not that it has been really bad,we just do not like the cooler weather. The last two weekends we have been out to birthday celebrations for two of our grand-daughters.Its good to have these get togethers.I have never asked you but do you have children?I think you would have seen our four children on the Wigan photo albums.
We have eight grandchildren. Keep in touch.cheers Barbara

Message for Derek who is researching family history. Try, if you haven't already the LDS's website FamilySearch.org Its a free search site, I have used it many times for family history with a good success rate. I came up with an Elizabeth Banks, born 1819 in Wigan, parents were James Banks & Isabela. Also an entry on the 1881 census for William Walls & Elizabeth plus 4 children living in Withington Lane, Aspull...give it a try.
