Living in London for the last 3 yrs. Love looking at old photos of Wigan. Miss the old market though - those plastic flaps you had to go through to enter (please tell me if my memory is playing tricks). Hindley born and bred - miss walking day, the hindley brownie pack, Borsdane woods walks with mum/dad and pals and Fred Dibnah going down Borsdane Avenue on his steam engine. Ah memories.

My name used to be Carole Winstanley and I lived at Norley Hall Estate. I have a brother Geoff who lives in Sydney.
I have been in Australia for 40 years (having come here when I was 17) but I still miss Wigan and everything about it.
I have been back several times and keep in touch with family and friends, and "Wigan World" provides an EXCELLENT opportunity to keep in touch and to keep up with all the changes. I just love looking at all the pictures and reading the news. As they say, there's no place like home.

What a fantastic site! I've happened upon it before but never realised that there was a listing of graves available to search! Found it last night and was able to locate 4 of my ancestors (Cunninghams) and was thrilled to bits. Will be visiting tomorrow! THANK YOU!

My husband Mike and I love Wigan World. We've lived out of England since 1971 and although we enjoy life here in USA and before that - South AFrica, we still miss Wigan and most of it's memories. In fact Mike has just finished writing a book called "Pies,Chips and Peas" which he's about to get printed. We both have lots of great memories of Wigan as we were born there and lived there for 25 years before taking off to discover the rest of the world with our son Andrew -then 5 years old. Mike had a very enjoyable and colourful childhood and decided to put it into writing as a lot of you over there would connect with.We visit as much as possible and even though I can make a decent steak pie -you can't beat Wigan pie, chips and peas.Everybody knows that!
We're probably going to live here for whatever time remains to us and my brother,Keith lives right down the street with his family, but we'll always come back to Wigan and it's people.
