If they spend a couple of thousand building a bridge from asda to B&Q, then made the traffic into Asda off the Saddle roundabout one way, would be a great help. Like dodgems trying to get out of Asda at peak times. There are already road markings on the B&Q slip road.

A 'couple of thousand' wouldn't even get the surveyors out of bed to mark the site out!

And, the traffic already does go into Asda off the Saddle Roundabout.

The problem there is the 'three lanes into two lanes into one lane' situation. That, plus no proper road markings, makes it that people know where they want to go, but don't know which lane they should be in to get there.

From Ormskirk Road, the left lane is for turning left towards Robin Park. The middle and right hand lanes are for straight on. Then there's three lanes, left one for Asda or B&Q, middle one for Wigan, right hand one for turning back on yourself (Halfords / McDonalds / Warrington Road etc.).

I missed the words, 'One way', out of the last post, how very wrong of me. Not being anally retentive, I didn't bother to find the exact costing of a new bridge over the Douglas, though there must be plans for it as the road markings on the B&Q side suggest.

you could make what you want with traffic on these roads any time of day but one problem some people dont remember your supposed to use indicators to tell other drivers which direction your going in

'from ormskirk road the left lane is not only for people turning left, it is also for going straight on'

There you have the reason why there's traffic problems at the 'Saddle' roundabout!

It's CLEARLY for turning left.
People use it to go straight on when they shouldn't, because it's not marked properly.
If the lanes around the 'Saddle' were marked properly, and people used them correctly, there wouldn't be any problems.

Tonker says it is 'CLEARLY' FOR TURNING LEFT. The photo shows that it isn't marked therefore NOT CLEAR.
I agree with Tonker (there's a first!) that it should be OBVIOUS it is for turning left, therefore drivers going straight on instead of turning left are doing nothing incorrect according to the non existent road markings.
