The man sitting here at the breakfast table said 'Whow, what a picture !'
& I will go along with that Mike....just stunning !

Comment by: Rev David Long on 9th March 2024 at 07:23

Proud photographer, too - with a fantastic shot such as this!

Comment by: frank on 9th March 2024 at 07:58

Fantastic photo.I don't know which looks the most fearsome, the storm or the swans protecting the cygnets.Well done

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 9th March 2024 at 08:31

Well, that's certainly "different"! My ancient laptop is slower than me in the morning, (like when we used to have to wait for the telly to "warm up"!), and it unfolded the photo gradually from the top, and I thought I was looking at a book-cover for a horror story, with the dark, brooding background, until the swan family was eventually revealed. Their white wings look almost blue, reminding me of the "dolly blue" washing aid that we were talking about on p-a-d the other day; that's how it worked, giving whites a slight blue tinge. A very unusual photo, Mike. Thankyou.

Superb photo, Mike.
Would stand as an exemplar of most UK families, on low or average earnings today - irrespective of who you vote for. On your own in an uneasy background.

Beautful mum and dad and three Cygnets, hope mum gets a card for Mothers day tomorrow.
Cheers Mike.

Comment by: Cyril on 9th March 2024 at 09:15

Superb Mike.

Comment by: Arthur on 9th March 2024 at 09:16

Is that lightning in the background, very very good and how brave you are getting so close to the Swans.

Comment by: Sandra on 9th March 2024 at 09:29

I thought Dave Ogy was back, the photo is the quality of Dave who took many top photos on here.
Mike, it's stunning with the highest praises from me, thank you.
Pleeeaaassseee keep them coming.

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 9th March 2024 at 09:34

A most unusual and dramatic picture Mike. You must have used a great technique to capture such an image. please tell us your secret?

Comment by: Malc on 9th March 2024 at 09:34

Mike would I be correct in saying this pic is supper imposed...just asking because its the best of the best. The Cygnet are early this year.

Comment by: Sue on 9th March 2024 at 09:39

Comment by: Jembo on 9th March 2024 at 09:49

Very effective drama shot. Obvioulsy not the sky that was originally shot.

Comment by: WN1 Standisher on 9th March 2024 at 10:53

A great capture of colours and perspective Mike, and how did you get so close to the brood ? This might sound daft but where is this ?, I can't place it. I wish my iphone, or the bloke using it, was capable of such a shot !!

Comment by: Sir Bob on 9th March 2024 at 11:41

Has somebody been watching 'Stranger Things', is that in the 'upside down' Wigan's alternate reality, where all the 'bad uns' live.

Comment by: Veronica on 9th March 2024 at 11:46

All credit due to you Mike it’s absolutely beautiful this photo. I was out early this morning but was too ‘gob smacked’ with awe to type my words in.
Ps since when did Dave Oy become Dave Ogy?
Wonderful photographer that he is.

Comment by: Wiganer on 9th March 2024 at 11:47

It's two photos in one, but very good.

Comment by: Nev on 9th March 2024 at 11:54

Award winning super imposed or not. Its fantastic you are to be applauded, Mike. A much welcoming change.

Comment by: John Noakes on 9th March 2024 at 11:58

This is not a ‘photograph’, in the true sense of the word, it’s a work of art created from a shot out of a film with much technical enhancement. Photographically speaking, it’s out of focus.

Comment by: Garry on 9th March 2024 at 13:03

The great Wigan Photographer is Dave (Oy) Green, a true professional.

Comment by: Mark on 9th March 2024 at 13:22

This picture would win even a professional photographer competition! Please tell us about it ! Wow !!! What a picture!

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 9th March 2024 at 13:35

I wonder if Sandra and Sue are twins, as they both called Dave Oy "Dave Ogy"? Or maybe triplets as perhaps they have ANOTHER name?

Comment by: Mike L on 9th March 2024 at 14:58

Thanks to everyone that commented on my photo. It was take at waddikers pond just of poolstock lane. Beside the new road. I often walk around these areas.with lots of photo opportunities with a mobile phone.

Comment by: Sir Bob on 9th March 2024 at 18:50

Mike Lavin

So that explains it then, it is not in the 'Upside Down' it is in Worsley Mesnes, which is worse than being in the 'Upside Down'

Comment by: Colin Traynor on 9th March 2024 at 20:00

Whatever the technique, I think some unkind comments for such efforts.
I like it.

Comment by: Edna on 9th March 2024 at 22:27

Stunning, absolutely Lovely, Mike. No other words.
