That is very good, never actually seen The Orwell lit though.

Many years ago, in the days when I was convinced that I could be Clint Eastwood’s double, I had a Poncho with a pattern like that.
What do you mean “What’s a Poncho?” Young whippersnapper!

Comment by: Gary on 4th December 2022 at 09:07

The pattern resembles 1970s wallpaper - or an Arabesque interior.

That is very bright and cheerful. Good photo.
Still, I wouldn’t want to walk down there at night.

It looks like someone's living room in the early 1970s!

No! Don’t like it. Looks like 1900s linoleum.

That piece is called Magic Carpet and it's by Zarah Hussain.
There are some more shots of the event here.

It reminds me of the Enlighten Festival in Canberra, a brilliant light show which attracts thousands of visitors in which for a week or so in March every year many buildings including government buildings are lit up at night like this, but, as i remember not quite as 'gaudy' as this.

The figure stood at attention in the blaze of light looks quite sinister . It looks like he's being filmed by another ghostly character .

I think Zarah does some amazing work, saying shes not an electrician.
It also reminds me of old fashioned wallpaper so it blends in nicely on the old fashioned building

The ‘sinister’man or woman patrolling looks like one of those rare beings who belong to the
Police Force. Looks like a yellow ‘vest’ is worn.

It looks horrible, like the rest of Wigan is now (:
