Funny init, Wigan pier was all refurbished in the 1980s and now run down again, I suspect.
Looks a bit sinister to me this picture!

I always wonder if they modeled the mill worker statue on one of the local Wallgate women.

I don't know who the statue was modelled on but it certainly doesn't look like a woman- least of all a woman from Wallgate! It does not compare to any of the Mill girls in the photographs on Album, in fact it is an insult to suggest its a woman at all.
Would have been better if you'd got the whole of the pier in. Or called it "Half of Wigan Pier"
Reason I did it that way Dave is because there was a horse pulling a old fashioned barge just out of view on the left waiting for me to take the snap, so I rushed it a bit.
You should have taken the barge too, this would have brought the Pier to life.
