Flood
Flood   by Geoff Charnock  (Panasonic TZ5)
I took this photo on Friday (22nd) at Asda, talk about a wet day in June!

It was a day for Online Shopping !!

Comment by Rev David Long on 28th June 2012 at 08:33
I've never understood why they've built so much on that flood plain.

Comment by Helen on 28th June 2012 at 08:57
I think the the Rev Long has a point....why do they do it ? The more we cover land with concrete and bricks, the more flooding there will be. Here where I live we lose a metre of cliff a year because of erosion...and they still allow building to go ahead in risky places...mad.

Comment by Mick on 28th June 2012 at 09:09
If this flooding problem kept happening in China they would solve it by making a new entrance into the supermarket and making the flooded bit it into a permanent lake.

They could have duck and fish swimming in it and a little garden around it and it could easily top it up in dry spells

Comment by Roy on 28th June 2012 at 09:44
Probably the cheapest land available Rev, as probably was the land on which the DW stadium was built.

Comment by Al. C. on 28th June 2012 at 10:08
Helen, as long as building and developments make money they will always take precedence over the environment.

Comment by Ernest Pyke on 28th June 2012 at 11:24
Mick, I`ve just enjoyed watching your video `Wigan Birds`. There were a lot of blackbirds singing on Chorley golf course yesterday.

Comment by Jimmy on 28th June 2012 at 11:37
They have spent 12 million pounds on a new dam, it would have been cheaper, and more efficient to build new drains at Newtown.

Comment by good old days on 28th June 2012 at 11:48
i thought advertising was not allowed lol.

Comment by Cyril on 28th June 2012 at 11:55
Blame the council road planners, that particular dip in the road where the roundabout sits is actually lower than the river when it's in flood.

Comment by dave johnson on 28th June 2012 at 18:12
Thank god they had spent £12million on the Dam. Otherwise with the volume of rain it put down on Friday, Newtown would have been devastated.
