Strolling
Strolling   by Alec McIntyre  (Sony DSC-W50)
A swan taking a stroll down Trafalgar Road, Wigan.

Comment by Ken R on 17th April 2012 at 00:16
This is a different take on "birds". This one is just "swanning" along Trafalgar Rd, minding its own business. Any one got a swan song?.

Comment by Janice on 17th April 2012 at 01:50
Well, did this not give rise to the phrase 'to swan off'? Well spotted Alec - how funny.

Comment by Ernest Pyke on 17th April 2012 at 04:08
Another nice selection Brian !! Can the bird lover`s tell us if it`s a cob or pen? Wikipedia ref:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan
Alec, would this swan have come from the reservoir near to the Cherry Gardens, or possibly the River Douglas?

Comment by Bren on 17th April 2012 at 08:27
This was the swan which was on the river Douglas at the bottom of Coppull Lane recently. A chap had seen it in the Swinley area and he picked it up and took it down to the water. It was there a couple of weeks, but has not been there recently. I presume it came from Wigan park originally, so hope it managed to find its way home.

Comment by Ron D on 17th April 2012 at 08:35
Ernest It;s definitely got a cob on.
Great picture.

Comment by Dave Marsh on 17th April 2012 at 09:04
Looks like a swan take over.

Comment by Al C. on 17th April 2012 at 10:23
Certainly one of the most unusual and amusing photos ever seen on Photo-A-Day! Well done Alec.

Comment by RON on 17th April 2012 at 10:53
I asked him for his autograph but he hadn't got a Pen with him....

Comment by Ernest Pyke on 17th April 2012 at 11:15
Is it about to do the hokey - cokey?
"You put your left foot out....."

Comment by dirty harry on 17th April 2012 at 11:17
"OH HELLO" it's just another way of putting a bird picture on . i reckon this is how they think they can get round it .well lets nip it in the bud now before it go's to far. PS those who think im the stinking fat rat who walks round wigan your so wrong.

Comment by Ernest Pyke on 17th April 2012 at 12:23
Where`s Clean Harry got to? Possibly on holiday in the Bahamas? So Fred Mason and myself will have to stay patient for his comment !!

Comment by Syd (Australia) on 17th April 2012 at 14:22
I take back everything that I have said, there actually is a place for Wigan ornithology, this is just a fabulous photo!

Comment by Harry C. on 17th April 2012 at 15:18
Great photo Alec, It looks like a young one, there are some on Scotmans that still haven't turned completely white, well spotted.

Comment by Clean Harry on 17th April 2012 at 16:31

Comment by Mick on 17th April 2012 at 17:11

Comment by Fred Mason on 17th April 2012 at 18:20

I've made comments about too many birds before but I really like this one. It looks like it's looking for trouble could be looking for Dirty Harry. Great shot Alex thanks
