Rip off Sainsburys.

Started by: brendan (1502)

Just called in that the above rip off supermarket. A tin of sardines has increased from 35p to 42p over night. a increase of approximatley 26%.I wonder how many more price increases are being slipped in. A few weeks ago it was blamed on the increse of petrol.Lately petrol has decrease. I wonder what the excuse is this time.

You can't go wrong with Liddle, Aldi and Netto. I get the essentials at these stores and then get little extras from the other stores. By the way if any of you get Turkey Crowns for Xmas then Aldi is the best I have ever had. Not got mine yet so perhaps I should have kept my gob shut(Hope there are some left after this)

Sainsburys has always had ridiculously high prices.

I stick with Tesco or Morrisons.

Tesco are excellent with the clubcard.

A BIG tip is to sign up for the Christmas Clubcard saver. All your points are saved up over the whole year.

Call Tesco Clubcard to sign up. Number on back of your card.

All the major supermarkets are overpriced, unless you buy their 'own label' stuff which is generally lower quality.
Products have a 'recommended retail price' given by the manufacurers. Supermarkets charge well over these recommended prices, they have to, to keep their own label products prices low and still make a profit.

go a farm shop, it's better quality, last's longer and is normally cheaper than places like sainsbury's (especially on veg).

Example for wiganstar ...

Uncle Bens packet rice, currently tv advertised,

wholesaler £4.79 six pack
recommended retail, £1.08 (= 26% profit)
Asda £1.35 each or 3 for £3.50

Pataks Curry Range (jars),

wholesaler £4.25 six pack
recommended retail £1.08 (= 34% profit)
Asda £1.42 each or 2 for £2.50
QualitySave 59p each
B&M 69p each
Netto 85p each

4 pints milk,

wholesaler £4.25 six pack
recommended retail £1.39 (= 21% profit)
Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco (top 5) £1.54
Iceland £1.25
Aldi, Lidl £1.44

Just three items that came to mind, but it's the same for any branded product unless it's on offer, seasonal etc..

The 'top 5' supermarkets really are frauds!

What are you on about Brendan/Bongo

You are whinging about the price of a tin of sardines

Well what about the price of watching that Yoonited, it must cost you an absolute fortune to support Manchester Yoonited, you must have to work morning, noon and night to afford those “RIP OFF” prices that Yoonited charge and what happens to all that money you pay

It goes to pay the interest on all those loans that the Glazers took out to buy Yoonted

So I would echo what some of the others have said and would suggest you shop at Netto at Marus Bridge instead of Sainsburys

Such a popular item at Christmas parties, too, ©art©.

It uppears the bubble may soon burst for their manufacturers - I can not pin point when, but it will leave many let down.

Being a rubber product though, I hope they soon bounce back. Air, what is it they say ... time is a great helium? We shall see what arises.
