Home Guard Unit - Believed to consist mainly of UpHolland men.
Second row from front 4th left Geoffrey Bamforth, Village School Headmaster. 3rd from right same row, Gilbert Bray, later Chairman of UpHolland UDC.

I think third from the right, front row,is Bernard Burnley, my father & third from the left, second row from the back is Ralph Harrison
My dad joined the RAF as soon as he could and was active most of the war but was in the home guard at Upholland at the very start of the war.He could be third from right and second row from front. I would say it is from his bearing and appearance.( Joe Wilson )

I believe 3rd from right top row is my Grandfather, James Edward Alker (MM)
