I think this is a pre-WW2 photo. But would welcome more precise dating. It seems to have been taken at the rear of St Mary's School.
Some names to go with the pic, which came from the late Bill Rimmer, a long-serving member of St Mary's Choir: Albert Harris is behind the big drum; to his left are Barrie Mason & Tommy Harwood; to his right Alfred Winstanley; far right on the front row are Eddie Forshaw, George Spencer & - Gaskell.

Bottom row 2nd from right holding side drum is my brother Jacky Searle.It may be about 1950 he was 11years old when Iwas born which was 1951 .Think Jacky Leyland was in this as well
