Wigan Album

I came across this picture of my father when he went to school the first time. He is seated in the front row, number 8 from the left. His name is George Fletcher and was born in 1904 at Lowton St Mary. He said he was from Wigan. Over his left shouder, number 7, is his older brother John Fletcher, born in Jan 1903.

Maybe you can shed a little light as to what school this may have been back at the turn of the century. Joseph Thomas Fletcher and wife Ellen Hodkinson left England in 1913 and came to America on the Empress Isle through Canada to Peoria Illinois. Along with the family of the sons pictured were sisters Edith and Irene and another son Joe. The family are all gone now and all that is left are the children of them.

Hope this picture is of some interest although the census at the time stated they lived in Leigh, so maybe a copy could be sent to the Leigh district.
