Taken in 1982 19th of March from the bridge on Ashton road Golborne looking towards Haydock park, train has just past our house in the background on its way from Lowton metals with the scrap, see the driver at front of train with his head in the box. Cullie were you walking this line then.

Love these photos of old school British Rail.....

Another Sulzer Type 2 pottering about the freight-only branch lines of South Lancashire with a clanking, squealing train of loose-coupled wagons and a guard's van tacked on the end.

The Lowton Metals site is now occupied by the office blocks opposite to the entrance to Haydock Park.

brian i only started on the railway in 1986 and i was based at burscough it was only in the early 1990's i went on the WCML which this is part of but its been a few years now since i last saw a train on here going into kelbits has for the class 25 in this picture nice little scottish RAT R.I.P

Scholes Malc ,,, go on to Google Earth or Google Maps and find Stewarton Close in Golborne, the railway line is still there and the train was on the line, adjacent to where Stewerton Close is now.
