A handsome young man. Its such a shame that folk didn't write on the backs of photos who, when & where. Hope someone can put a name to this one.

He may have a squint in his L eye. Perhaps in later life he wore strong glasses.

Probably taken all around WWI. I have a photo of my grandfather wearing an almost identical suit, and in a similar studio setting, which can be dated to 1916.

Many thanks for the responses. Your comment jj that he may have had a squint in his left eye makes me wonder if this is my great granddad, John Riley. All the photos we have of him are when he was in his late 60s, 70s & 80s, and he's wearing thick spectacles on them all. Would explain why my grandma had the photo. Just a pity nothing was written on the back. Would need to have been taken much earlier than 1916 though, as he was born 1876.
